Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona says her children are “suffering” thanks to bullies who make fun of them because of her past troubles, despite having now been sober for 13 years.
Mum-of-five Kerry first tried drugs as a teenager.
She previously revealed that she took speed when she was only 14-years-old, after her mum pretended it was a sherbet dip.
Later in life she became addicted to cocaine and Kerry says she used it as a crutch as a way to handle her mental health and personal problems.
However, the star realised she needed to get clean and kicked the habit in 2008.
Her children are daughters Molly, 20, and Lilly, 18, who she shares with Westlife star Brian McFadden.
She also shares Heidi, 14, and Max, 13, with ex Mark Croft, and one son, Dylan-Jorge, who is seven.
Called DJ for short, Kerry had him with George Kay, who died in 2019.
Kerry opened up in her new! magazine column, saying she has never hidden her troubled past from any of her kids.
Kerry said: “I’ve always been honest with my kids about my past because there’s no point hiding it.
“What hurts is that even 13 years sober, kids still tease my children in the playground about my past.
“Even though my kids never witnessed me taking drugs, they’re the ones still suffering for it years later.”
Kerry was shown quitting Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins earlier this week, after it triggered some painful memories for her.
Kerry said of the experience: “It’s been amazing. I have actually loved it. I’ve never looked at myself as a failure, but you kick yourself if you can’t do something.
“I might not have come in first but I’ve got from the bottom to the top and then back to the bottom.”
In her new! column she explained what happened: “On the show they grabbed me by the shoulders and shouted, ‘You’ve got more to prove than anyone Katona!’
“But it catapulted me back to a place which I thought I’d got over and clearly haven’t. It was a massive trigger.
“The shouting took me back to feeling really worthless. It triggered memories of George.”
Kerry went on to explain that George once spat in her face, adding: “I got to the point where I would rather take a beating than have him spit in my face.”
