Viewers of Loose Women will be disappointed to find the panel missing from their screens today as the show is dropped from ITV’s schedule.
Speaking to viewers at the end of Tuesday’s show host Christine Lampard announced: “Thank you so much for your company today.
“We’re not going to be here tomorrow because of the Budget but we’re back on Thursday for more lunchtime laughs, see you then!”
The debate show has been bumped from air on ITV today to make way for Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Autumn budget for 2021 to be discussed.
Political journalist Tom Bradbury will host the one-off show on air from 12:30 pm as Rishi reveals the details of his second budget of the year.
ITV’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby also found This Morning running on shortened air time today to ensure ample of coverage time for the budget, ending 15 minutes early at 12.15 instead of the usual 12.30.
Viewers may have a particular interest in the autumn budget as it lays out detailed changes following on from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic – including the recently announced revocation of the £20 a week boost to Universal Credit claimants payments.
The furlough scheme that kept many millions of UK residents in work during lockdown has also recently come to an end.
A large rise in taxes has also already been revealed – the biggest increase in over two decades.
It’s expected a 1.25% rise in National Insurance will be directed to funding the NHS and social care, adding an expected £12.5 billion in funds to try and clear a huge backlog in services due to the impact of covid-19.
It’s already expected that inflation could reach over 5% by Christmas and as the budget takes effect the general public could see their household bills and flight ticket prices rising considerably.
Meanwhile, Labour leader Kier Starmer will be missing from the House Of Commons for the Budget after testing positive for Covid-19 this morning.
