It has been revealed that Love Island host Laura Whitmore has only appeared on the ITV2 show for just under 12 minutes so far this while series.
The mum-of-one Laura entered the villa for the launch show on Monday 28 June when she paired up the original Islanders, but since then viewers haven’t seen her appear on the main show at all.
It’s been reported that 950 minutes of footage has been broadcast from the villa 14 episodes that have aired, but the host has barely been on screen.
Despite her apparent lack of involvement in the main show so far, Laura is reported to be getting a staggering £600,000 pay packet.
According to analysis by The Sun, 36-year-old Laura has been on screen for just 11 minutes and 51 seconds for the 2021 series.
This means Laura has been paid a whopping £50K per minute for her work on the main ITV2 show.
Love Island fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the host’s lack of… hosting.
One fan said: “Is Laura Whitmore on furlough this series orrr?”
A second wrote: “Did Laura Whitmore go on strike???”
While a third made a plea to the show: “@LoveIsland is Laura Whitmore actually getting a salary for this year???!!!! Where is she…..she is sorely missed”
And a fourth person added: “Also why doesn’t Laura Whitmore come and announce who’s leaving… would make more sense #LoveIsland.”
While a fifth penned the tweet: “has Laura Whitmore taken her 2 weeks holidays i haven’t seen her on Love Island since the first episode”
An ITV spokesman said: “It is very standard of Love Island to see the host appear sporadically. As with recent series, the host doesn’t appear in every episode.”
It has been confirmed that Iain Stirling, who provides the voiceover for the nightly dating show has been doing so from his home in London, and will continue to do so for the rest of the season this year.
Iain and Laura share a baby daughter together, so could this be the reason she’s not jetting to and fro?
Laura was spotted on Wednesday afternoon with her baby daughter in London.
She also shared a video from the Van Gogh Alive Exhibition in London.
Laura has also been seen recently in Kensington Gardens as she also shared a selfie as she sat in a deck chair and filmed ducks by the water.
Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
