Love Island viewers threaten boycott as Laura Whitmore confirms 2022 series

Love Island host Laura Whitmore confirmed the dating series will be return in 2022 during this year’s dramatic final.

The presenter said if viewers had been inspired by this year’s villa antics they should apply for the show and maybe enjoy their own “summer of love” next year.

Laura gave the rallying cry after revealing Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank had ended up in fourth place in the final.

Millie Court and Liam Reardon were the overall winners of the show while Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran were the runners-up.

Viewers were shocked after Kaz and Tyler came bottom in the public vote, followed by Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, who landed third place.

Laura invited potential Islanders to apply for Love Island 2022

Some vented on social media after the results were called claiming they will boycott the show next year.

One wrote: “Can we finally boycott love island because of Liam and Millie winning.”

Another said: “I say it every year but I want to boycott Love Island. Liam is a douche they shouldn’t have won.”

A third added: “We need to boycott Love Island they do not deserve views after this series.”

Liam and Millie won’t be too bothered by any critics

Others were mildly critical of host Laura.

Daily Star TV columnist Ed Gleave tweeted: “Laura Whitmore skirted over the Faye drama just there. No one expected Paxman. But that was feeble. Her interview style is poor #loveisland”

Another person tweeted: “Sorry but I just can’t get on board with Laura Whitmore can we get someone else next year I vote Rylan”

Chloe and Toby were happy runners-up

One episode saw Faye Winter lashing out at Teddy Soares, resulting in 25,000 Ofcom complaints – the most received about any episode in the series’ history.

Her outburst came after Teddy’s return from Casa Amor.

In tonight’s final Welsh bricklayer Liam, 22, and fashion buyer Millie, 24, gasped as host Laura announced their names as this year’s winners.

The pair were then asked to open their individual envelopes, with Liam’s being empty and Millie’s containing £50,000.

Millie and Liam were crowned the winners of Love Island last night

Despite fans’ pleas not to after his Casa Amor antics, loyal Millie decided to split the money with Liam.

Meanwhile, runners-up Toby and Chloe opened up about their feelings .

“I always thought Toby was fit but I thought he was a bit young,” Chloe said. “I never connected with any of the guys in Casa Amor like Tobe.”

While Toby confessed: “First time I saw Chloe I thought she was beautiful but I had to see where my head was at.

“My head was turned but challenges come here and there and you just have to deal with them.”
