Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague in pain with gory injury after at-home beauty fail

Molly-Mae Hague, 21, tried to take her 5.1million followers on a journey through her home beauty hacks as she attempted to remove her acrylic nails at home, but the star’s efforts ended in blood.

In a series of stories posted to her Instagram, the blonde beauty ended up nearly ripping her whole nail off, in an injury that would leave even the least squeamish wincing at the pain.

Seemingly fed up of the salon continuing to stay closed due to lockdown across the UK, Molly-Mae gathered all the products she had at home to give it a go herself.

Normally professional nail artists use pure acetone to soak off nails, and Molly-Mae thought she would able to recreate the environment with an “Amazon special” nail package.

First preempting the questions by telling avid fans she’d already cut her nails down, and was hopeful the process wouldn’t be too difficult, Molly-Mae ended up getting more frustrated by the lack of results.

The beige-cream nail paint was full of grooves and bleeding liquid, and where the star had tried to get them off bits of the acrylic were peeling.

But unfortunately for her, despite copious soaking with acetone and cotton-wool balls, the acrylic nails simply weren’t budging.

She recorded herself waiting and waiting for the nails to melt but to no avail, as she initially joked: “Who do I think I am?” at trying to imitate a professional salon artist.

The model and reality star, who currently lives with her beau Tommy Fury, 21, finally revealed it had been “a big fat juicy fail” and the acrylic was fully “thriving and rock solid”.

The drama didn’t stop there, as while it appeared she had given up, the star returned with a truly gory picture of her half-torn nail.

Her hand covered in blood, Molly-Mae’s index fingernail looked almost entirely split in two.

Exhausted and sore, Molly-Mae declared: “That’s enough nail DIY for one day.

“If you know the pain, you know,” she added.

Still able to see the funny side of her at-home beauty fail, the influencer told her fans how her poor boyfriend had reacted to the whole ordeal.

“Tommy came running in with a plaster and a Nurofen,” she giggled. “I think he thought I severed my hand off!”

It’s safe to say Molly hasn’t found lockdown easy at all – even finding ways to complain about food while on holiday, when most of her followers were stuck in their homes.
