Meghan Markle 'may not live down forgetfulness claim' says Karren Brady

Karren Brady has waded in to the Meghan Markle furore, saying she suspects she won’t be able to “live down” her recent forgetfulness claim.

The royal has hit the headlines after apologising to a court for her forgetfulness in her privacy case against the Mail On Sunday’s publishers, which she brought – and won – over publication of extracts from a letter to her dad.

The Duchess said she had forgotten asking an aide to pass on info to the authors of Finding Freedom, a biography about her, and that she hadn’t intended to mislead.

Writing in The Sun, TV star Karren said: “After months of her wanting to ‘speak her truth’, the real truth is out about Meghan Markle.”

While she admitted her own memory was like a “sieve”, Karren said she “can’t quite imagine forgetting I’ve told someone what to write – in detail – in a supposedly unauthorised biography”.

The Apprentice star said she also felt sympathy for Meghan.

Pointing out that any communication the royal had her with dad was fairly likely to become public knowledge, she said: “In a way, can you blame her for having that in mind when she wrote to him?”

But she was unsure whether the public would be able to get past it.

She wrote: “The court may accept her forgetfulness was genuine. Whatever they decide, I wonder if Meghan will live this down, but I suspect not.”

Karren also said it may be the “final nail in the coffin” for many people.

Meghan won her privacy case in February, with a judge deciding publication of extracts of her letter to dad Thomas Markle was “unlawful”.

However, Associated Newspapers is trying to overturn the ruling.
