Molly Mae-Hague has revealed that she’s been faced with some “savage” social media comments after her latest interview.
The former Love Island star recently opened up about feeling like a “loner” as she appeared on Steven Bartlett’s podcast – the Diary of a CEO.
During the interview, she confessed that she only has about “five” people in her close circle which includes friends – but that she’d rather focus on making money than having a social life.
She told Steven: “My circle is minuscule. I have literally about five people in my circle, and that includes friends.”
Molly, who is Pretty Little Thing’s creative director, had insisted that she likes having such a tiny circle, and wouldn’t have it “any other way”.
However, the influencer was hit with some savage comments about her candid interview on platforms like TikTok – and she reacted to them in her latest YouTube video.
She also confessed that she was glad she hasn’t been using Twitter due to how “strong” people’s opinions are on the platform.
Molly started off by thanking her fans for all of the lovely comments about the chat.
She said: “I just want to thank you guys so much for the love that I got on my podcast with Steven Bartlett – the Diary of a CEO. I was so, so taken aback by the response.
“I had no idea that my audience would respond to it so well, because my audience is slightly younger than Steven’s and I didn’t necessarily know if the podcast would be a huge hit with all of my audience or if it would resonate with a lot of people.
“But I’m still so taken aback by the response. I just wanted to say thank you for how amazing you guys have been about it.
She then spoke about how “savage” and “harsh” platforms like TikTok can be – and how she was taken aback by some of the comments.
Molly went on: “Don’t get me wrong, seen a few strong opinions about a few things that I had to say and me being me I always overthink and look into things far too much.
“And I think not having Twitter after that podcast came out was another good thing as well – because that’s where everyone’s opinions are super strong.
“TikTok as well. Tik Tok is another platform that I’ve come to realise is quite savage, quite harsh, and you can’t control the harshness on there, you can’t filter comments.
“The comments section is just like a free for all, so yeah, there was a few TikToks where I was reading the comments and I was like ‘oh gosh, maybe they’re right’, maybe I could have worded it a bit differently’, but there’s no point looking into things too much.
“As I said in the podcast, there’s always going to be someone that hates what you do.”
Molly became PLT’s creative director back in August – in a rumoured seven-figure-deal.
In Steven’s podcast, Molly revealed that she didn’t go into the Love Island villa looking for love – instead, it was something she did to “enhance her career”.
She said: “It is tricky for me to say the right thing without upsetting people but, put it this way, I didn’t go on that show to find love.
“No one does! People go on it for the experience, people go on it for a laugh. And I think, because I went on there with a completely probably incorrect mindset, that’s why I did come out with a boyfriend. You know when you’re not expecting something it happens?”
