BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty appeared to take a cheeky dig at colleague Carol Kirkwood on Thursday’s programme and it didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.
On today’s show (April 8), journalist Fiona Lamdin visited a farm in Salisbury to talk about a decline in farm animals across the UK.
She introduced viewers to some of the concerning species of sheep, goats and pigs – including one called Bette Midler.
After the report, Naga said: “So we’ve got the gorgeous Bette Midler. We’ve seen Mary and everything and now we go to Carol.”
Seemingly making a jibe at the forecaster, she added: “Carol, how lovely would it be to have a pig to be named after oneself?”
The weather expert giggled away but seemed rather unimpressed at the comment.
“Well I’m not sure about that one Naga, actually, lovely as these pigs are,” Carol replied before quickly shutting her down, adding: “I’m not sure if you’re good with that either. So swiftly moving on.”
The awkward moment was caught by eagle-eyed viewers and they quickly took to Twitter, believing Carol was insulted by Naga.

One viewer wrote: “Naga virtually calling Carole a pig then.”
“Was that Naga insulting Carol calling her a pig in an underhand way?” a second asked.
Viewers were also confused about an expert’s advice to ask the public to “keep eating the species in order to protect them”.
Account manager Chris said: “Well these pigs are Oxford Sandy and Blacks – any we are worried about these pigs like we are any breeds.
“The important thing is to remember that they were bred to meet human needs as like all livestock… so if you are thinking about food, well do think about eating later breed meat.”
Meanwhile, Carol joked she might get sacked after hitting out at a comment made by her producer.
Earlier this week, Louise Minchin sparked outrage by revealing her unusual choice of condiment to pair with a sausage sandwich.
