Nick Cannon has admitted that he was “heartbroken” when his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian lied to him about the Ray J sex tape.
The comedian and actor dated the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star between 2006 and 2007, before the infamous sex tape was leaked online in 2007.
Appearing on the Drinks Champ podcast, Nick explained: “I remember I was really into her… We were on some serious s***!
“I saw Ray J [out on Rodeo Drive]… I was holding [Kim’s] hand and, literally from across the street, he was like ‘You ain’t gonna wanna keep holding her hand soon, watch!’ And I’m thinking he’s just hating!” Nick continued.
“And I’m like wondering why he said that, and then there started to be these little rumours around that there was this tape… I think he was warning [me].”
Kim dated Nick in the period after her relationship with Ray J but before the tape was released.
“People didn’t know, they were like ‘who’s that chick with Nick? She’s bad,'” the star added.
“And then a year later probably when the tape came out, I believe the tape was made prior to me in my mind because it looks like to people I was with her first and then a year later or whatever the tape came out.
“But I think that tape was an older tape, but it looks to the public it was Nick and then it was the tape. I believe Ray J knew her before I did.”
The reality TV star dated Ray J from between 2002 and 2006.
Kim recently opened up about the sex tape scandal and explained how filming her reality show with her family helped her cope with it all.
“In a way, filming has helped us deal with things, instead of sweeping them under the rug,” she told the Los Angeles Times.
“At the end of the day, I was always open and honest and wanted to share whatever I was going through. I wasn’t gonna hold back.”
