Piers Morgan believes eighties star Roland Rat should be his Good Morning Britain replacement.
The outspoken presenter walked out on the show after his controversial comments about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
And having refused to apologise for his highly-criticised remarks, 55-year-old Piers stressed that Roland could be his perfect replacement.
Yesterday’s Sunday Sport newspaper ran a front page splash with the headline “Roland Rat to replace Piers on GMB”.
The “shock exclusive” showed a comical mocked-up image of Roland sat next to Piers’ former GMB co-host Susanna Reid on the hit show.
They showed an image of a smirking Piers who, despite having left the show, has taken the article in good humour.
In a tongue-in-cheek post to his 7.9million Twitter followers, Piers – who can’t seem to stay out of the news – commented on the front page story.
“Not such a mad idea… Roland was a massive breakfast TV ratings success in the ‘80s & likes to speak his mind,” said Piers.
“He’d also be immune to the cancel culture mob because he could cry ‘ANIMAL CRUELTY!’ if any of the wokies came for him.”
And Piers’ Twitter fans were quick to comment on his post.
One joked: “I called it as soon as you quit…he [Roland] single-handedly saved TV:AM back in the 80s?”
Another laughed: “At least you’re not a puppet with someone’s hand up your –. Can’t wait to see your next venture is piers.”
Despite still discussing various new job opportunities, Piers has been active on Twitter since leaving the show.
And over the weekend he also took a pop at Matt Hancock, the government’s Health Secretary, after an NHS medical worker was hit with a £60 parking fine.
The upset social media explained in a now deleted Tweet: “The missus has worked throughout this whole pandemic on the front line.
‘Disappointed when she gets called in for a 12-hour shift on her weekend off, to be charged £60 as the hospital has decided to start charging staff again.”
Piers offered to pay the fine himself and criticised Mr Hancock for the fine.
“Disgusting,” slammed Piers, in a separate Twitter post. “Why the hell are you still allowing this to happen, @MattHancock when you promised it would stop?”
And one Twitter follower praised: “I like this version of @piersmorgan since he freed himself from the shackles of @GMB. You’re turning into the ‘People’s Crusader’.”
