BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker scolded by Sally Nugent over weatherman aspirations

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker got some laughs on Monday morning as he joked he could “do the weather”.

He correctly predicted the day’s weather conditions would be “topsy turvy” with weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.

But the presenter was quickly put in his place by co-host Sally Nugent, who told him flatly: “No, you can’t.”

Dan put his hands up to insist: “I know I couldn’t do the weather. It was a joke!”

Sally continued to shake her head, though it was clear she was amused by her co-host’s antics.

“No!” she repeated.

He then begged Carol: “Please don’t go anywhere!”

Sally was forced to scold her co-host

Sally chastised him for getting too big for his boots.

“Stop it! You can’t take over the world!” she scolded.

The sports journalist has already taken a leap from presenting Football Focus, and being a regular reporter for Final Score and Match of the Day.

He took up the mantle for BBC Breakfast back in 2016.

The presenter joked he could “do the weather”

Some fans were thrilled with the suggestion, with one taking to Twitter to write: “Would anyone else like to see @mrdanwalker present the @BBCBreakfast weather as a special one off?”

Another saw the humour in Dan’s jack-of-all-trades outlook, joking: “Dan, as you’re a sports presenter, can you ask the Spanish guest in Brussels who she thinks is going to win the Champions League? Thanks mate.”

Someone else indicated they’d prefer Carol to stick to her role, writing: “Carol the weather lady at last a person doing the job they are qualified to do.”

Meanwhile, Sally herself took up Louise Minchin’s place on the breakfast show in a Monday morning shake-up.

Some viewers preferred Carol Kirkwood to stick to her role

Sally too began her career as a sports reporter, and has travelled the world covering football.

Viewers have so far been impressed with the presenting duo, with one commenting: “Liking the chemistry between Dan and Sally this morning.”

Another added: “Dan and Sally works for me.”
