Richard Madeley ‘signs up for I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2021 with £200k payout'

Richard Madeley has reportedly signed up for this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

The 65-year-old is said to have agreed to a contract worth an estimated £200,000, according to The Sun.

The Good Morning Britain presenter has been rumoured to be entering the show’s lineup for years, and apparently, the stars may have aligned this year.

Although Richard himself, or ITV, have not confirmed the reports.

His wife and fellow TV host, Judy Finnigan, is known to be a “huge fan” of the series and his son-in-law and former rugby star James Haskell – married to his daughter Chloe – took part in 2019.

Richard also appeared on I’m A Celeb’s spinoff show Extra Camp last year where he took part in a Critter-cal Rescue trial in a giant termites nest.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said that Richard has been approached several times and has finally decided to sign on the dotted line.

The insider said: “Richard’s been asked year after year but the timing has never been right. But now, finally, he’s said ‘Yes’.

“He’s a favourite with ITV execs. He’s brilliant off and on screen so it seemed as good a time as any to throw caution to the wind and eat animal bits.

“He’s a fantastic coup and a nailed-on fan favourite. Once you wind him up, off he goes — he will make for castle gold.”

ITV have not yet confirmed the names of anyone taking part in this year’s series and have said that any names suggested at this point are pure speculation.

The series will once again take place in Wales due to the Covid restrictions

Also rumoured to be taking part is former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, 53, former GMB presenter Piers Morgan, drag queen Cheryl Hole and EastEnders actor Jake Wood.

It comes after the ITV series was revealed to be returning to Wales for the second year due to coronavirus restrictions in Australia.

The Aussie jungle will once again be swapped for Gwrych Castle in Abergele.

Ant and Dec have teased that filming has kicked off again in a recent post and have been spotted on set filming trailers for the new series.

The Daily Star has approached Richard Madeley for comment.
