I’m A Celebrity star Richard Madeley has revealed how he and wife Judy Finnigan had a “three-in-a-bed” – with a ghost.
The Good Morning Britain presenter said: “It was really, really spooky.”
Madeley, 65, will be among the 10 stars entering the haunted Gwrych Castle this weekend for the ITV show.
But he is not worried about the spirits roaming there as he and Judy had their own terrifying experience in Paris a few years back.
Richard revealed: “I could see what I thought was Judy sitting with her back to me on her side of the bed as if she was about to go to the loo or something – but she didn’t move.
“I slid my hand across the bed to pat her on the back, but I couldn’t get my hand across the bed because the real Judy was lying next to me. I couldn’t move my hand across the mattress.
“And so there was a hunched figure sitting on the far side of the bed.
“And it was such a shock I made a strange inarticulate noise.
“The moment I made a noise, this thing stood up with ridiculous speed and shot across the room.
“I thought, “Oh, holy s***’’. I was really shaken up. Next morning, Judy says to me: ‘Oh my God, I had the most bizarre nightmare. I dreamt that a ghost walked over my grave’.”
The TV star will miss his wife Judy, 73, the most as it will be their 35th wedding anniversary this weekend.
But he cannot wait to get stuck into Bushtucker Trials as he claims it will “relieve the boredom” in the Welsh castle and give him a chance to “have fun” with hosts Ant and Dec.
He said: “Occasionally you see a “celebrity” who doesn’t want to be there. And you think ‘Well, why the f*** did you go in? Surely you understood what it was’.”
Richard also wants to shake-off his Alan Partridge gaffe-prone image and says if he was so bad he would have been sacked by now.
The former Richard & Judy host added: “I’ve done thousands of hours of live television and I’ve never been sued for libel. So I think I’ll be OK.”
I’m A Celebrity starts on Sunday on ITV at 9pm
