Ricky Gervais fears he will get 'cancelled' in 10 years over his stand-up comedy

Ricky Gervais fears he will be cancelled by snowflakes and end up doing stand-up from park benches.

The After Life creator, 59, said: “You don’t know what the world’s going to be like in 10 years’ time.

“You can get cancelled for things you said 10 years ago because you don’t know what it’s going to be like in 10 years’ time. If I have to, I’ll go to Hyde Park and stand on a bench and shout s***.”

The stand-up star made headlines earlier in the week when fellow comedian Frankie Boyle appeared to take a swipe at his comedy material.

Speaking with documentarian Louis Theroux on his podcast Grounded With Louis Theroux, Frankie aired his views on Ricky’s comedy style.

The outspoken Scot described seeing Ricky make a joke about transgender people, and branded the material as “lazy”.

He said: “If you’re a stand-up watching him, you feel like, ‘oh, that’s someone doing a version of what we do’.

“But really, it’s that I saw him doing his routine about trans people and I thought it was very lazy.

“I would like him to have the same respect for trans people as he seems to have for animals.

“I don’t think that’s a lot to ask.”

Frankie added: “I mean, look, we know Ricky Gervais, he’s a brilliant actor, he’s a brilliant writer, he’s not a f**king stand-up comedian!

“Just ‘cos Ricky Gervais self-identifies as a stand-up comedian, am I supposed to say that he is one? It’s f**king political correctness gone mad!”

Ricky has yet to speak out on Frankie’s diss, however, he did like several tweets that knocked the comments that had been made.
