Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook has said any hopes the band will reform are Pretty Vacant.
The punk legends made three comebacks in 1996, 2002 and 2008.
But he said: “Every time we got back together it was getting worse. People’s attitudes, people’s relationships.
“What’s the point if you aren’t going to have a bit of fun? It was a poisonous atmosphere.
“It’s never going to happen again. 70-year-old Sex Pistols singing about anarchy? Not a pretty sight.”
The surviving original band members are still gigging with their own projects, like Paul in The Professionals and singer John Lydon – aka Johnny Rotten – with PiL.

The Pistols performed for only three years after they first got together in 1975 and made only one album.
Paul, 65, said of the first reunion in 1996: “First time round we played small venues. We’d never played to more than a few thousand at the most.
“Now we were going to play to 30,000 people at Finsbury Park for the big comeback gig.

“But there were enough egos on that stage to fill Wembley Stadium 10 times over.”
He said the wheels came off before they could even think about a new album or tour.
He added: “Everyone was getting on okay when we started.
“But as it went along it soon all fell apart personality-wise. A lot of the old resentments came up. We saw that out for a year but we couldn’t wait for it to end.”
