If you’re counting down the days until Santa pays you a visit, it doesn’t mean everyone is, ho-no, because this bunch of superstar scrooges despise Christmas time.
The big day is fast approaching and unlike most of us who are decking out homes with tinsel, these celebs are burying their heads and some even fleeing the country to avoid the fun festivities.
From Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher to pop princess Miley Cyrus, the list of celebs who are most definitely on the naughty list are here and we’re shouting it loud for Santa to hear.
But how can anyone hate the holidays, you ask? Let us spill the secrets behind this list of A-listers loathing the nation’s best-loved occasion.
Noel Gallagher
Despite his first name being forever linked to the Xmas holidays, Noel Gallagher actually hates the festive season.
He once told FACT: “The entire f***ing period is a f***ing stain on society, I f***ing hate it with a passion.
The rockstar went on the reveal that when one of the nation’s most anticipated Christmas adverts used his music as a backing track, he tried to give it a second chance but failed.
“The jingles – when John Lewis put my tune in an ad last Christmas, I loved that, at that particular point I thought, ‘Do you know what, I’ll give Christmas a second chance.’
“I gave it a second chance and it was too much food, too much ‘We are the world’, the jumpers, the TV presenters, the disappointed kids’ faces in my house when they go, ‘But I asked for a spider,’ and you’re like, ‘No but it’s illegal to bring the f***ing spiders into this country. ‘
“’What about the African tree frog I asked for? That’s in a tree in Africas, we’re in Maida Vale.
“It’s so boring, it’s unbelievable, and those little sausages, what are they called? Chipolatas. That sounds like a circus troop from the 1950s.
“We are not the f***ing world, we are not the children, Christmas is for divs.”
Ozzy Osbourne
The Prince of Darkness’s dislike for Christmas runs so deep that he can’t stand opening his own presents.
He told The Express: “I f***ing hate Christmas.
“I f***ing hate it. Everything stops. When I used to drink it was a good excuse to get f***ed for two weeks. Now I just hate it.”
And his shopaholic wife Sharon doesn’t help, with her making masterpieces out of his gifts.
He continued: “I have to unravel all these f***ing presents.
“What a f***ing waste of paper.”
Lady Gaga
Back in 2010, Lady Gaga appeared to have mixed feelings about the 25th of December.
At a London concert, she said: “I do like Christmas but for those of you who are feeling lonely this Christmas…”
She then shoved the head of the novelty figure into her mouth and ferociously tore at it with her teeth, removing the majority of the head with her teeth – and a little help from her stiletto heels.
Before she then stomped on a stuffed Santa with the heel of her stiletto and yelled: “I hate Christmas! I’m alone and miserable! Anyway, now that I’ve killed Santa, what am I going to do with all of you?”
She then said of her abuse of the Santa toy: “He was pregnant with chemicals not meant for children’ before throwing the remains into the audience.”
Denise Welch
Loose Women star Denise Welch went as far as calling the most wonderful time of year “the c word.”
She once wrote in the Manchester Evening News: “What I mostly hate about winter in the UK is …. the C word. Yes Christmas. My kids are banned from talking about it until at least the beginning of December.
“It’s not the actual day so much, although that’s often a trial when today’s ‘blended families’ come together for what is basically Sunday dinner when they’d much rather be somewhere else.”
Colin Firth
Despite being in one of the best-loved Christmas films ever made, posh actor Colin Firth confessed he stops listening to the radio at Christmas as it makes him “homicidal”.
He told The Mail: “I have a profound loathing of Christmas – it’s sad really.
“At this time of year, I am careful not to switch on the radio because those novelty jingles make me homicidal and plunge me into the heart of Scrooge territory.
“Everyone is trying to throw happy stuff at you, and that’s when I come over all humbug.”
Hugh Grant
It seems the cast of Love Actually might actually be trying to ruin Christmas for us all. First Colin Firth and Hugh Grant?!
Speaking to the Mirror in 2009, he admitted that he actually avoids all Yuletide celebrations as much as he can.
He stated: “I am in New York this Christmas. I’ll be spending time with my brother and his family and my ancient father.
“I can’t pretend to really be into the holiday season. For the last several years I managed to avoid it. I have even arranged to be working in Muslim countries to escape it.”
Miley Cyrus
The kid who brought us all sorts of Disney sparkle and energy – would surely love the glitzy celebrations, right?
Wrong… Christmas time unfortunately makes Miley Cyrus feel uncharacteristically down in the dumps.
In 2016, she shared her thoughts on Christmas on Instagram, saying: “Call me the grinch but ‘Christmas’ always makes me feel deeply sad.
“It is filled with so much excessiveness & greed.”
She then added: “I just hope everyone gives the gift of love and acceptance this year to not only their own family but those around the globe who don’t get everything they wished for due to life’s unfair circumstances!
“My parents always made Christmas about others. And I hope you find it in your heart to do the same!”
