Strictly Come Dancing fans are sure they’ve already worked out the identity of McFly frontman Tom Fletcher’s professional dance partner, as he posted a snap of her on Instagram.
Or of her feet, at least.
With the official pairing episode taking place this Saturday (September 18), it appears Tom might have ‘leaked’ his partner’s identity a little prematurely – with fans certain he is paired up with Amy Dowden.
Tom posted a snap of the rehearsal space floor, with his feet situated next to his partner’s.
Tom’s navy trousers could be seen in the snap, paired with white socks and a pair of lace-up dance shoes.
His partner’s, meanwhile, could be seen in dark tights with similar shoes.
Writing alongside the snap, Tom teased: “My dance partner and I in day 1 of @bbcstrictly training. Don’t worry, she’s already told me off for my white socks… but who is she?”
Fans quickly leapt into the comments section with their own guesses, with one penning: “Amyyyyyy!”
“I reckon Amy!” someone else chimed in.
As another fan posted: “100% Amy Dowden!”, while a fourth posted: “I kinda hoped Dianne but definitely think Amy!”
But there was an even bigger clue lurking on the horizon, as fans noticed an eerie similarity with a snap posted to Amy’s own Instagram Stories.
Amy could be seen posing for a cheeky mirror selfie in the rehearsal studio, clad in skintight black leggings which looked like they could be taken for tights in different lighting.
The brunette beauty paired the look with a tiny black crop top as she gave the camera a thumbs up.
But what caught the most attention was Amy’s shoes, just visible at the very bottom of the snap – and they looked incredibly similar to the pair of feet Tom posted.
Amy captioned the snap: “What an amazing first morning of rehearsals!” – so she’d clearly been preparing at the same time as Tom.
In response to the cryptic snap, one fan posted: “Now I’m convinced it’s Amy, she was wearing black in her Insta stories!”
Someone else agreed: “Yes! I think so too! All black, and it’s also the same floor/place as her video (although I don’t know if they all train in the same space).”
And another followed up: “Same chairs too lol, def same space!”
“Ah damn! I’m convinced now it’s Amy cos of her Instagram stories lol!” a fourth fan echoed with a detective emoji.
The BBC One dance competition has already been thrown into chaos this week as one of the pros tested positive for Covid-19.
A source told The Sun: “This is proving to be a nightmare for producers, just as they prepare to bring back Strictly for its first full series since the pandemic”, with the BBC confirming that one professional dancer had received a positive test result.
Strictly Come Dancing starts at 7:45pm on Saturday on BBC One
