Strictly's Shirley Ballas books to see doctor after fans spotted 'alarming' lumps

Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge, Shirley Ballas, has booked in to see a medical professional after fans shard their concern over a lump.

The 61-year-old Strictly judge was inundated with messages from concerned fans after eagle-eyed viewers believed they saw a lump under her arm while she was on TV.

Shirley took to Instagram before Saturday night’s show and said she was grateful for the messages of concern and took the advice of fans by booking herself in to see a doctor next week.

She took to social media from her dressing room ahead of the live show from the BBC studios.

“I got some alarming messages from people saying that when I picked my arm up they could see lumps or bumps.

“I did some self checks and I can’t feel anything, but I’m going to go to the doctors on Tuesday.”

She then urged her followers to check their breasts: “To all women out there please keep checking yourselves.”

The star continued: “To those people that were concerned enough to message me saying you could see lumps and bumps… thank you.”

Earlier on this year, back before the summer, Shirley had a cancer scare when she found a lump in her shoulder.

The star has had a total of two cancer scares in the past, and her family has had a history with cancer as well.

When she found the lump in her shoulder, she said: “It’s something between two bones and they are not really sure what it is yet.

“They have done the dye and the MRIs plus this and that. I get the results in a few weeks. The gentleman seems to think it will be fine but, still, it is worrying.”

There is a history of cancer in Shirley’s family and she has had two scares herself.

The most recent was in June this year when she discovered a lump in her shoulder.

She said at the time: “It’s something between two bones and they are not really sure what it is yet.

“They have done the dye and the MRIs plus this and that. I get the results in a few weeks. The gentleman seems to think it will be fine but, still, it is worrying.”
