Ugo Monye was forced to step from Strictly Come Dancing due to a back injury he’s been struggling with, and he’s updated fans from hospital after undergoing a procedure.
He started off by posting on Instagram a series of videos of machines, before the former rugby star complained about the tiny pants he had been offered to wear.
Waving the white underpants around, he joked: “The one thing which any hospital never ever gets right… I’ve worn some real rascal gear over the last two weeks. But these for knickers? No!
“Well, yes, because I have to wear them but they’re just not me,” he added.
He gave a shout out to Strictly wardrobe designers Vicky Gill and Esra Gungor, comparing the dance outfits he has to wear on the show to the clothing he’s been provided in hospital.
In the next video, Ugo posed in a stylish purple hospital gown, as he quipped: “Outfit of the day, this lovely violet number, it’s this mesh, recyclable material.
“It’s itchy and this is going to be my look for the next few hours. I won’t show you the back because the back doesn’t really exist,” he laughed.
“But yeah, this is my look heading into the weekend.”
His dance partner Oti Mabuse shared a sweet snap of the pair talking on Facetime, as he showed off the gown to her too.
She captioned the post: “In hospital about to go under, I’m nervous for him but he’s wishing Vicky and Esra would have designed his hospital frock.”
Oti added: “At least the humour is there, considering you can’t walk!”
Ugo then posted saying his procedure was a success, from his hospital bed.
“Quick update, just had the procedure done and spoke to the doctor and he’s really, really happy with how everything went,” he started.
“So I’m slightly groggy, I’m gonna head home and rest up and recover over the next couple of days,” but Ugo’s mind was on the other dancers.
“Just want to wish all the contestants or the very best of luck on the show. I’m absolutely gutted I can’t dance this weekend and I won’t be there, but I can’t wait to get back at it and be flying next week.
“So good luck to everyone. I’ll be cheerleading off the sofa. Take care and I’ll see you soon!”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday night on BBC One
