Too Hot to Handle's Cam says realising romance issues on TV was challenging

Cam Holmes admittedly went on Too Hot to Handle believing he was heading onto a show called Party in Paradise, which was described as the polar opposite of the abstinence show he appeared on.

Although he struggled to keep himself in check when it came to sexual experiences in the beginning – even opting for some self gratification – he managed to develop a greater understanding of his love life.

It was no easy journey, with Cam coming to terms with his romantic issues while appearing on a popular Netflix show, but it seems it was worth it.

Reflecting on his biggest challenge from the show, Cam told Daily Star Online: For me the biggest challenge was starting to realise that maybe I am the problem.

“I was thinking that I do have commitment issues and I do have trust issues and I had always thought ‘What’s wrong with these girls? I’m fine!’ But then I had to actually think ‘Oh no cam you aren’t as good as you think you are, you do have a lot of issues,’ and trying to address and admit that on global TV is quite a challenging thing to do.”

Viewers are yet to see Cam reassess his commitments, as the last episode saw him on a date with newbie Christina – which certainly caused a lot of tension.

Emily Miller, the girl Cam was building a romance with, said: “Christina’s entrance wasn’t the greatest! It’s never nice hearing about a girl going on a date with the guy you like let alone seeing it with your own eyes.

“It was a very alien situation for me, if that was in the real world that would never happen I wouldn’t allow it, I would either be gone or there would be no competition. It was very strange.”

Cam added: “It was a challenging moment for me because that’s what I’m used to doing, I’d always be dating more than one girl at the same time I’d never be focused on just one girl.

“When I went on the date I just acted how I would on the outside world, without thinking about what I was doing to the girl I had a connection with inside.

“Obviously I didn’t play it the best, I lied, I thought I’d get away with it which was a silly mistake but it taught me a lot and it was a big learning curve for me.”

He continued: “I think it was the test that I needed in a weird way, so I’m glad it happened otherwise it might have happened at a later date so I’m glad she taught me valuable lessons – it definitely made Em and me stronger. “

Cam has shared his gratitude to Lana, explaining how he has learned a lot about forming a connection, which Emily agreed with.

However, one thing is for certain – the pair are both adamant that they wouldn’t plan on returning to Lana’s abstinence retreat anytime soon.

Too Hot to Handle is available to stream on Netflix now.
