Will Smith reveals who will be replacing him in the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air reboot

Will Smith has recently revealed who will be cast as his former character in the new reboot of Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

The iconic 1990s series is what sparked Will’s incredible acting career, and what led him to Hollywood greatness.

From his breakout role on The Fresh Prince, the 52-year-old went on to a whole list of memorable roles including Men in Black, Hancock and Suicide Squad.

The actor welcomed the newcomer Jabari Banks into his role by announcing that his audition was successful during a video call with him.

The pair had jumped on a video chat, where Will surprised Jabari with the news.

Congratulating Jabari, Will said: “It is an absolute pleasure to meet you, to be on with you, and from the deepest parts of my heart I want to say congratulations to you.

“You have the role of Will on Bel-Air.”

Jabari looked overjoyed with the revelation and responded by saying: “I’m ready, I’m so ready.”

The young actor then revealed that his father first sent him an article about the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air audition and suggested he go for it before his agent landed him the spot.

Jabari continued: “This is a dream come true. Thank you so much, I’m so grateful. This is incredible.”

The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air originally starred Will playing as a fictionalised version of himself, who was a streetwise teenager who is sent to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle in their mansion.

Will was sent to the upmarket district by his mother after getting into a fight in his hometown of Philadelphia.

During the nineties, he starred alongside James Avery, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali, Joseph Marcell and Janet Hubert-Whitten/Daphne Maxwell Reid in the sitcom.

The show continued on for six seasons lasting from 1990 to 1996.

The reboot, from NBC streaming service Peacock, will be based on Morgan Cooper’s 2019 viral spec trailer Bel-air.

Producers said the show will be set in the modern-day era and described it as a series with an hour-long ‘dramatic analogue’ compared to the half-hour sitcom of the original show.

In September last year, Peacock announced that the show is set to have two seasons so far.
