BBC Breakfast Charlie Stayt missing as Naga Munchetty hosts solo at Buckingham Palace

BBC Breakfast host Charlie Stayt was replaced by Roger Johnson for Saturday’s programme as Naga Munchetty presented part of the show solo.

Naga was once again seen in front of Buckingham Palace to report the latest news on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this weekend.

She has been outside of the studio all through her presenting slots this week as viewers settle in to watch the Queen mark 70 years on the throne.

Meanwhile, Naga’s co-host Roger Johnson stayed on the iconic red sofa in the BBC studios as he and Naga linked over to each other throughout the lengthy programme.

Naga has been seen in front of the famous Palace for the Jubilee celebrations this week as the Royal Family have gathered to celebrate the Queen and her Jubilee this weekend.

The presenter has been talking to a number of royal experts about what to expect from the huge event, with Meghan and Harry’s appearance being the main topic of conversation.

The pair have not been back to the UK together since they announced they were stepping back as senior royals and moving to Los Angeles back in 2020.

Earlier this week, Naga spoke to BBC’s royal correspondent Daniela Relph about the celebrations, with Meghan and Harry’s appearance being confirmed.

Naga said: “I think it’s established that they will be here. Are they here? We’ve been told to be quite mindful of them not distracting from this event.”

Daniela replied: “Yes, that’s right. They are here. We had some clarity on the issue around Harry and Meghan from Buckingham Palace. They’re here. They’re going to be staying in Windsor, and they will be here for Trooping the Colour today.”

She also added that whilst the couple would be there, they wouldn’t be front and centre of the event, adding it has been “tricky to navigate”.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC.
