BBC Breakfast turns tense as Carol Kirkwood snaps at Jon Kay before stern warning

BBC Breakfast turned tense this week, as weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was left snapping at her co-star Jon Kay.

Jon couldn’t help but point out a major error occurring in Carol’s weather report as she delivered the bulletin for the day on Monday (November 21) – leaving Carol to say: “Yes, thank you Jon!”

It all began as Carol concluded her report, promising largely sunshine and showers for the UK, as she said: “Six to 11 degrees being our top temperatures, Sally and Jon.”

Jon then thanked his co-star for her efforts, as he said: “Back with Carol a little bit later.”

But the host, sitting alongside Sally Nugent, then noticed a technical error appearing on the weather screen, as a random T had popped up next to the box reading Tuesday.

“You’ve got a stray T there!” he said, as Carol put on a smile to say: “I know, I saw that.”

“T-T-Tuesday!” Jon giggled, as Carol mumbled: “Trying to hide it… nobody saw it!” and covered the error with her palm.

Stirring the pot, Sally joked: “Until Jon pointed it out! Sorry Carol, thank you very much!”

Carol couldn’t help but snap: “Yeah, thanks Jon!”

Jon warned: “Don’t drop your Ts.”

It was all clearly in good humour as all three presenters broke into laughter, with Carol quipping: “I’m off for one now, actually!”

“Get one for us as well, see you later!” Jon told her as she disappeared from the screen, with Sally warning Jon: “Carol’s had a very busy morning already! She’s on her own, and she’s spinning a lot of plates.”

Thoroughly told off, Jon said: “Okay, okay, okay!” before announcing the time in a much needed subject change.

It comes as fans on Twitter were fuming at the programme’s World Cup coverage, as they begged Sally and Jon to stop talking about football.

Threatening to switch off, one viewer moaned: “It’s clear from @BBCBreakfast and @GMB that the news media are going to force feed us this World Cup whether we want to hear about it or not.

“So it looks like a few weeks without the news for me!”

Another disgruntled viewer agreed: “Reporting on grown men kicking a stupid ball get real Sally and Jon football isn’t news it’s just crap!”

While a third fan joked: “We’re now going to speak to someone that knew someone that once knew someone who knew someone that used to go to the same school as someone that knew someone that knew someone that the coach driver of the team once knew #worldcup.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
