BBC Breakfast fans were left unimpressed during the latest instalment of the programme after an emotional interview was interrupted.
Hosts Charlie Stayt and Rachel Burden were back on our screens on Thursday (April 7) morning to discuss the latest news headlines.
The pair welcomed former male model Norman Scott to the studio to discuss his side of the story surrounding his past relationship with Liberal MP Jeremy Thorpe.
Their secret romance ended the career of Mr Thorpe and and the politician reportedly began a badly planned conspiracy to murder his lover.
As Norman, 82, bravely opened up about the assassination plot against him, presenter Rachel randomly paused the interview.
She said: “At this point, and it seems like a strange point to say this pause, we just need to tell you the time. It’s 8.59 and you’re watching BBC Breakfast.
“We just need to allow that to happen so we can carry on with the story now.”
Norman continued to recall the moment a gun was pushed into the side of his head after his dog was shot dead, but viewers were distracted by the “rude” interruption.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Brave and courageous Norman Scott recalling the harrowing moment he was about to be shot in the head and he gets interrupted so the presenter can tell us it’s 8.59 for the news channel.
“Whoever has control over this, sort it out because that was shameful.”
Another added: “Why do the presenters have to stop a conversation with a contributor to let us what the time is when we can see on the screen that it is 8.59am.”
A third person posted: “Hang on. Let me just stop you there. Something really important to say. It has to be done… It’s 8:59am. Carry on.”
While a fourth social media user said: “You’ve got to find a better method for this 8:59 time check business. Handled well by @rachelburden but, wow, mid Norman Scott explaining his own assassination attempt, Not good.”

“Interrupts someone explaining how they were shot to tell us it’s 8.59,” a fifth person tweeted.
While a sixth viewer said: “How ridiculous to interrupt Norman Scott for a Time Check for that stupid 8.59am thing they do.
“At least the editor had the sense not to play the logo & music, leaving the presenter hanging. Could not a word in the ear have told them to skip this?”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am
