Bradley Walsh was completely gobsmacked after a contestant broke a new show record with the highest number of correct answers given on The Chase.
During Tuesday’s instalment of the popular ITV game show, the 61-year-old welcomed a new batch of quizzers ready to take on the Chaser in an attempt to take home the cash prize.
During the show John, Amy, Claire and Stephen worked together as a team to beat the chaser and take home a healthy cash prize split between them evenly.
But the former Coronation Street star was shocked to witness one contestant set a “spectacular” record after he managed to get a “full house” during the quick-fire round.
Before he faced Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, budding star John showcased his mental prowess after he raked in £11,000 in just 30 seconds.
Blown away with his impressive score, Bradley couldn’t help but congratulate him for his impressive general knowledge during the fast-paced round.
Flabbergasted, he said: “The show’s over. I can’t remember the last time that has happened. Full house, £11,000, that is spectacular.”
But it wasn’t just the TV presenter who showered the quizzer with compliments as viewers flooded to Twitter to congratulate the contestant online.
One user penned: “@ITVChase #TheChase This guy John is amazing £11,000 on his cash builder.”
Another agreed: “A crucial player is back [applause emoji] John will definitely by the difference for the final #TheChase.”
A third asked: “How long until they bring John in as the seventh chaser? #TheChase.”
It comes after Bradley – who has been hosting the game show since 2009 – recently revealed that if he beat pro quizzers Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinah, Darragh Ennis and Mark, he would air it.
Speaking at the time, he said: “If I beat the Chaser, we’ll make a series, let’s do that.
“Oh I’ll definitely beat them, if I can beat them, we’ll make the series, alright?”
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
