Channel 4 has announced its latest new six-part TV series titled Football Dreams: The Academy, which follows a group of young boys striving to achieve their dreams at one of the nation’s most prestigious football academies.
Up and down the country, millions of boys dream of one day becoming the next David Beckham, but only a small percentage of them make it as a Premier League footballer.
It’s fair to say few professions in the UK have the power to completely change a young person’s life as quickly and dramatically as those who manage to land a position at the famous Crystal Palace Football Club Academy.

Crystal Palace has produced the likes of England manager Gareth Southgate, Wilfred Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka who have since progressed through the ranks in the sport and established themselves as professional footballers.
And now, Channel 4 has lifted the lid on what it is like to study at the beloved academy as the brand-new documentary series follows the lives of a group of boys aged between eight and 18 years old over the course of 12 months.
The series shows a range of diverse stories with a group of teens coming from a variety of backgrounds all with the same dream of making it big in the beloved sport.
But it’s not all fun and games at the superior academy, as students are constantly assessed and analysed in an elite sports environment not just on their sporting ability but also on their character off the pitch.
It is clear to see the coaches put their all into developing and nurturing the budding sportsmen in the early years of their career to help them, blossom into professional sportsmen and smart young men whether they make it as professionals or not.
The series is narrated by Crystal Palace’s number one fan, actor and comedian Ben Bailey-Smith – also known by his stage name Doc Brown.

And it’s fair to say that viewers have been loving the show after the first three episodes aired as viewers gushed over the new show online.
The Academy airs on Channel 4 at 9pm as well as available on All 4 to binge-watch online.
