There have been countless standout moments on Come Dine With Me over the years and far too many to count on two hands.
The Channel 4 series first aired on 10 January 2005 and is narrated by Dave Lamb. As of July 2020, there have been 45 series.
The show features five amateur chefs who live in the same town or area, who each host a three-course dinner party for the other contestants at their own home.
Each competitor then rates the host’s food and hosting skills during the taxi journey home, with the highest-scoring chef winning £1,000 cash.
The show often features guests with clashing personalities.
There have been so many iconic contestants, episodes and moments, and luckily for you, Daily Star has rounded them up for you so you can relive every single one
“What a sad little life Jane”
Well, this moment is iconic.
Even if you don’t remember watching this on the television, you’ll most likely remember seeing it transformed into a meme.
With t-shirts and home decor items having the infamous quote splashed across them, this clip really did go down in TV (and pop culture) history.
On January 4, 2016, an episode of Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me aired pitting ill-tempered Peter Marsh against Jane, Charlotte and Adam.
Peter didn’t really impress his dinner guests, after calling one co-star fat and commenting that one meal looked like a plate of vomit.
He was convinced he had won as he read out the results. Reading them, he said: “In fourth place… is me.”
He then shook his head at his arch nemesis Jane before ranting: “You won Jane. Enjoy the money, I hope it makes you happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life, Jane.
“You ruined my night completely so you could have the money.
“I hope now you will spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum because you have all the grace of reversing dump trunk without any tyres on.”
Whisk gate
Whisk gate has become a staple moment in pop culture.
Fans were shocked when one contestant shoved a whole whisk in his mouth after stirring his dessert mixture.
He casually shoved the utensil in his mouth saying the mixture tasted “perfect”.
The clip ended up going down in TV history, with millennials and Gen-Zers turning it into a meme and talking about it years on.

In 2020 one Twitter user said: “Whenever I read the words ‘British culture’ it makes me think of that man who put the whole whisk in his mouth on Come Dine With Me.”
Someone else penned: “The Come Dine With Me episode where the man puts the whisk in his mouth lives in my head rent free.
While another wrote: “You know that episode on Come Dine With Me when the bloke puts the whole whisk in his mouth I actually think about that quiet often and crease every time.”
Another sore loser
Almost as widely known as the Peter and Jane row, this woman was so angry when she realised she didn’t win.
After looking inside the envelope to read the order of who had one, she said: “I don’t believe this, I really don’t – you put me forth. I’m really sad about that. You’ve really peed me off actually. My food was better than any of yours.
“Seriously, I am so shocked that you gave me what you did. My presentation was amazing. Far better than any of yours – and I’ve come fourth?!”
She continued to rant: “I’m so upset with all of you. I could have given you a zero cause yours was shit! Do you know what? I don’t deserve fourth! I’m sorry I’m going to bed, I’m so upset, that is so sad.”
Snakes on a plate
Yes. An actual snake was slithering across the dining table. And yes. It even had a big yellow poo. Yum.
The guests sitting around the table were completely put off by the appearance of the huge snake that was crawling across the dining table and around all of the plates.
You could even hear them squealing and screaming as they realised what was going on.
Cakes out of the window
In his intro, contestant Lee said that he was hoping the fellow contestants would score him highly so he could win the money.
As the contestants arrived for his dinner party, he kept saying that he “wasn’t being rude” as he dashed off to the kitchen.
Despite having “so much to do” in the kitchen, he burnt his dessert and chucked it out of the window.
He ended up leaving his guests waiting hours for their food before garnering the lowest score in the history of the Channel 4 programme.
