ITV’s hit soap Coronation Street promises an unmissable week of intense drama as the battle between parents Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) and Abi Webster (Sally Carman) for baby Alfie intensifies.
A haunting new trailer teases chaos on the cobbles as the pair spin out of control in the midst of their fight for custody of their son which has been building over the past few weeks and Imran resorted to using dirty tactics to win the case.
Imran has paid off an associate to lie to the court in a bid to make it appear Abi is still using drugs in a calculated effort to win the case for custody of their child.
In the trailer, the parents of Alfie fall to the ground as the camera spins in a terrifying carousel effect whilst the carnage behind them on the cobbles intensifies as Corrie fans brace themselves for a dramatic week.
Embroiled within Imran and Abi’s battle for custody, Toyah Battersby’s (Georgia Taylor) heartbreak after the revelation of her new husband Imran’s unfaithfulness with Abi sees her struggling to cope.
Imran cheated on his wife with Abi, which subsequently led to him fathering Alfie and the loss of the child he and wife Toyah were due to adopt.
The spinning camera focusses in on the parent’s faces whilst police and fellow Weatherfield residents crowd in the background as smoke billows towards Imran and Abi.
With each turn of the haunting carousel-like movement more and more of the parent’s neighbours are dragged into the abyss of their feud for custody and those affected by their intense fallout are brought into the centre of the chaos.
Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) rushes to his estranged wife Abi to reconcile their relationship after he learnt of her adultery with Imran whilst Toyah is comforted by step-sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
Corrie’s Continuing Drama and Head of ITV in the North, John Whiston said: “The pigeons really do come home to roost for some of Corrie’s best loved characters in this fantastic week of edge of your seat drama.
“Secrets unravel, truths hurt and lives well and truly turn upside down as the lengths Imran went to to take baby Alfie away from Abi are revealed.
“Whether your sympathies are with Abi, with Toyah or with Imran, this is not a week to be missed.”
Fans of the hit ITV soap wait with bated breath for the dramatic episodes to air later this month in what promises to be an intense week of episodes.
Questions on everyone’s lips will be given answers, will Imran’s cunning tactics secure him the custody win or will Abi be able to prove her innocence? Will Kevin forgive the woman he loves who has broken his heart and his trust or will he put his own protection first?
As Weatherfield spins out of control who will come out of the carnage unscathed as Abi and Imran are on course for an almighty collision.
The trailer will air on ITV this evening. Monday 16 May.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV at 8pm
