Coronation Street fans may recognize a familiar face on the cobbles this week as actor Craig Cheetham turned up on in Weatherfield playing Aaron Sandford’s dad, Eric.
Viewers got a teaser of Eric’s personality when Aaron recently confided in girlfriend Summer that his dad is an alcoholic and often beats him.
Eric burst onto our screen in dramatic fashion on Wednesday (October 5th) when he showed up to confront his son over his missing weed.

When Kevin witnessed what Eric was doing, he sent him on his way
Later Aaron went home and his dad beat him up once again.
But eagle-eyed fans may recognise actor Craig from various other roles, including an appeared in rival soap Hollyoaks.
In 2004 Craig played Paul in Hollyoaks for nine episodes. He returned to the Chester-set soap in 2007 as Noel Ashworth, the real father of then show regular Rhys Ashworth. Noel died after eight episodes.
Craig has also appeared in Emmerdale playing DS Reed in Emmerdale from 2013 to 2014, where he led the investigation into the Home Farm fire started by Charity and Declan Macey.
His career reaches even further than soaps, with the star having played serial killer Peter Sutcliffe in This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper, which was a dramatisation of the real-life investigation into the Yorkshire Ripper.
He’s also appeared in Heartbeat, Doctors, Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere, Life on Mars, Shameless, Brassic and Everything I Know About Love.
Actor Craig has also appeared in Coronation Street before in 2016.
He played the dad of Simon Barlow‘s friend Kyle and was involved in a storyline that saw Simon break Kyle’s leg during a football game.
Fans recently saw his new on-screen son Aaron meet Summer at a diabetes support group.
The two began to grow closer, but when Aaron discovered Summer was struggling with bulimia, he ended things.
Eventually he admitted he also struggled with bulimia and they got back together.
Aaron went on to get a job at Kevin and Tyrone‘s garage.
Earlier in the week, Aaron got a hold of his dad’s wallet in a bid to stop him from buying more alcohol and drugs.
And during a day off, Aaron offered to consume some cannabis he found in the wallet, leading to an eventful space cake mishap with a Bishop.
Until Aaron’s confession about his dad’s drinking and violent behaviour, we didn’t know much about his family. But his latest dramatic arrival has given fans an introduction to Eric and he is likely to be viewed as one of the latest villains to enter the ITV soap.
