Coronation Street star Alex Bain has been back to hospital amid a grisly ankle injury.
The actor plays Simon Barlow in the ITV soap, and hasn’t been letting his injury get him down even as he headed to the fracture clinic to have it checked over.
Back in May, Alex was pictured in a wheelchair as he attended the A&E at Blackburn Hospital, just weeks before he jetted off on holiday.
Now sporting a medical boot, Alex headed to the hospital and updated fans via his Instagram Stories, explaining: “Update on the ankle.
“I’m at the fracture clinic having a check up and X-Ray to see how it is doing. I’ll keep you all updated!”
He was quick to thank fans for their unwavering support amid his health woes, telling them: “Quick update again! I have to go back in four weeks time to have it checked again, however they’re pleased with the progress so all is well with me!
“Should be healed soon enough guys! Thanks for all your love and support!”
Alex then opened up a Q&A section on social media, inviting fans to ask him questions to be answered live.
The actor has fractured a part on the outside of his ankle, begging fans not to worry about him amid the injury which came just before he was set to fly to Frankfurt.
He was in a wheelchair at the airport to support the injured leg, quipping on his page: “Time to see if I’ve still got my flight legs or something like that!”
He then added a snap of him sitting in the wheelchair and rushed to thank airport staff for their assistance, as he wrote: “Got a fancy new set of wheels! Thank you to the helpful people at Manchester Airport!”
Alex has played Simon since he was a child, beginning in 2008 – taking over from baby twins Jake and Oscar Hartley who played Simon as a baby.
The character has also been played by Daniel Whelan in 2003.
Alex welcomed his first child with ex-girlfriend Levi Selby back in 2018, with Levi aged just 16 when she gave birth while Alex had just finished his GCSEs.
Speaking about being a dad, Alex told Inside Soap last year: “I adore having a child, I really do, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“But don’t get me wrong, she runs me ragged! It was quite nice to take a breather in lockdown, and have time to slow down and watch my daughter grow.
“She actually just started nursery, which is pretty scary.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
