Corrie's Alexandra Mardell 'set for BBC's Strictly Come Dancing', fans predict

Coronation Street’s Emma Brooker said farewell to her friends and family during Friday night’s episode, but some fans believe actress Alexandra Mardell, who played the character, could soon appear on reality TV.

The 28-year-old who has been a part of Corrie since 2018 quickly became a fan favourite playing the role of apprentice hairdresser and barmaid Emma.

But now that the star has decided to call time on her Weatherfield role, speculative fans seem to think actress Alexandra will end up on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

A social media user on Reddit posted the subject matter: “Corrie Strictly Come Dancing Possibilities.”

Corrie fans think the star may venture into reality TV

They wrote: “So with a number of actors leaving Corrie between last year and this, that usually means one of them will pop up as a contestant on Strictly, since they can’t sign up while on the show, who out of the ones that have left do we reckon will probably be on the list this year?

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alexandra Mardell (Emma) or Kel Allen (Laura) popping up

Replying to the post, someone else penned: “Emma’s actress will definitely give it a go, or Dancing On Ice.”

Alexandra left Corrie fans stunned when she announced that she would be parting ways from the long-running soap earlier this year.

Sharing her thoughts on her departure, she said: “Playing Emma, on the most iconic street there is, has been the best experience of my life.

Will the actress go into Strictly?

“Four years have gone so fast. Compared to other cast members I still feel like a newbie, which makes my decision to leave all the more difficult.

She added: “I can’t thank everyone at Coronation Street enough for welcoming me and trusting me to tell so many wonderful and heartfelt stories.”

As well as being a part of many comical storylines, Alexander’s character Emma has also been involved in hard-hitting stories too.

Discovering that she was the daughter of Steve McDonald and her confusing relationship with ex-boyfriend Curtis Delamere kept viewers across the nation hooked.

Leaving the famous cobbles on a high, Emma found love fairly quickly with new character Jon Spear.

With Jon declaring his love for Emma, she soon felt she had no other choice but to join him on his ventures to Australia.

Although dad Steve begged her not to go, Emma was determined to live her life on her terms and packed her bags for good.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the former Corrie star said she longed to play a different character.

She expressed: “I know it’s right for me but I can see so easily how people stay there for 20, 60 years, because it is such an amazing place to work.

“But I just wanted to play another character. As much as I’ve got to explore Emma in lots of different ways, there’s some other people I want to try and give a go as well.”
