Coronation Street fans are so sure that Stu Carpenter didn’t murder Charlie Walters that they’ve come up with a pretty complex theory to uncover the real killer.
And they think that youngster Hope Stape could be chatting to them online.
Stu was imprisoned for 27 years for the murder of Charlie, but some digging by Alya and Zeedan has revealed that he was interrogated for 10 hours straight, and kept awake by abusive police officers.

With Stu adamant he’s innocent and nobody else in the frame, theories have abounded online, with plenty of viewers convinced that his daughter Bridget or ex-wife Lucy could be the real killer after finding out about Stu’s affair with Charlie.
But what if it’s someone else altogether?
One Reddit user thinks they’ve discovered the truth, as they took to the platform with a huge twist in mind.
Reddit user MidnightSlater05 penned: “Any chance Hope is chatting to Charlie’s real killer?
“A bit ago we found out Hope was speaking to someone online which seems to indicate a grooming story.
“We know Stu didn’t kill Charlie but that leaves a killer on the loose.
“Maybe the real killer is still hunting for young girls and that’s how they’re going to integrate him into the street? Because with the way the Stu story is going they’ll have to show him being caught I would think or have him on the show and this way it pulls in other characters too,” they added.
The eagle-eyed viewer concluded their post by saying: “Of course it would be a pretty massive coincidence but this wouldn’t be the first time there’s been convenient plotting done.”
However, someone else replied: “I think it’s more likely Hope will be talking to a run of the mill child groomer/wrong ‘un OR that it will be her half-sister Jade returning under an alias somehow and trying to get close to her again.”
Not much is known about the mysterious stranger Hope is messaging, only that their username is Mad Dog.

Fans are already worried for Fiz’s daughter and took to Twitter to share their woes, as one penned: “Tyrone and Fiz should be monitoring Hope’s tablet instead of snogging because I don’t trust this ‘Mad Dog’ she’s talking to online.”
“Hope’s talking to a wrong ‘un!” someone else echoed, while a third fan posted: “I wanna know who Mad Dog was when Hope had those messages!”
Various theories have come out online, with some suggesting it could be her crazed half-sister Jade Rowan, while others think it could be Fiz’s ex Phill Whittaker trying to get information about her dad for his book deal.
But could it really be Charlie’s killer? Only time will tell.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
