Dan Walker mortified as he 'fell into a wheelie bin' trying to talk to Katie Price

Dan Walker has admitted that one of his most embarrassing moments involved TV icon Katie Price.

Dan, who previously presented for BBC Breakfast, attended the Pride Of Britain Awards and admitted that in pursuit of the star, he ended up with “banana on his face”.

Speaking to Daily Star on the red carpet, Dan admitted that he had fallen into a wheelie bin while trying to talk to her after taking orders from his boss.

He said: “The most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me was, do you remember a few years ago? Jordan [Katie Price] ran for MP in Stretford and Urmston as a Daily Star publicity stunt. I was at a radio station at the time and my boss sent me down.”

Dan was sent to talk to Pricey by his bosses

Walker continued: “My boss said: ‘Go down there. You’ve got to get an interview with her, whatever you do’. So, I went down there and as she left the room, I ran down the corridor holding a microphone to her.”

“I was so concentrated on getting the interview that I didn’t see a wheelie bin and I went in [it], came out the other side of the wheelie bin and next thing I knew – banana all over my face!”

Luckily, Dan said that Pricey didn’t see as she was “so focused” and branded his blunder as “one of those ones where you only realise the bruises afterwards”.

Walker was dressed to the nines as he attended the POB Awards at London’s Grosvenor House.

He wore a smart black suit with a crisp white shirt and a burgundy tie, his blonde hair worn in a sleek quiff as he posed for the cameras with his hands in his pockets.

Dan’s recent move to Channel 5 was a big career change

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant recently moved from BBC Breakfast to 5 News on Channel 5, a move which was reported to be worth £1.5 million.

Walker also recently admitted that he made his children sign a behaviour contract before he bought them mobile phones.

Dan revealed that they were banned from using Instagram until they were 13-years-old and that they “were behind a lot of their friends” in terms of using social media, but said it is “what [he] decided to do”.
