Eamonn Holmes cheeky response to calls for Holly and Phil to be sacked from This Morning

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes appeared to be in agreement with a fan who called for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to be replaced on This Morning following the Queen queue jumping backlash.

Thousands of mourners accused the daytime presenters of using their celebrity status to avoid the 10 hour queues to visit the late monarch lying in state at Westminster Hall.

Despite denying the allegations, infuriated fans online have called for Phil, 60 and Holly, 41, to be sacked from the show and former This Morning star Eamonn appeared to agree.

Commenting on the topic after he was caught up in a Twitter thread suggesting he and his wife Ruth Langsford should take their places, Eamonn replied to a tweet which read: “I always preferred @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL #ThisMorning.”

Another social media user added: “They should be sacked Eamonn and Ruth are far better.”

Eamonn then responded to the thread with three prayer hands emojis.

The 62-year-old already appeared to share his thoughts on the situation during his breakfast after the scandal came to light.

As his co-host, Isabel Webster, welcomed a guest “who suffered that queue and they were not of any insignificant age” Eamonn jokingly added: “What, Holly and Phillip?”

On Tuesday’s episode of This Morning, a clip was shown of Westminster Hall on the programme while Holly explained to viewers that herself and Phil were not queue jumping at all.

She said: “Like hundreds of accredited broadcasters and journalists we were given official permission to access the hall.

“It was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who haven’t been able to visit Westminster in person.”

Phil and Holly have both denied skipping the queue

“The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back. In contrast those paying respects walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause.

“None of the broadcasters and journalists took anyone’s places in the queue and no one filed past the Queen.

“We of course respected those rules however we realised that it may have looked like something else and therefore we totally understand the reaction.

She added: “Please know that we would never jump a queue.”
