Christmas is a time for happiness but the festivities rarely go to plan for our favourite soap characters.
While some regulars may not make it to 2023, it looks like there’s also plenty of heartbreak in store for many of EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Emmerdale’s much-loved familar faces.
Daily Star has taken a look what fans can expect over Christmas week including triple death fears in Albert Square, a paternity twist in Emmerdale, Weatherfield wedding drama and a steamy family affair over in Hollyoaks.

Coronation Street
As Tyrone Dobbs , Hope Stape and Ruby Dobbs descend the stairs in their wedding outfits intent on surprising Fiz Stape, they find a note on the table informing them that she’s gone to buy a turkey. Will the special ceremony go ahead?
Meanwhile, Teddy Thompkins gets knocked over by a van as he heads to the Rovers to give Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) an update on his missing son Leo.
Elsewhere, Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) tells Roy Cropper (David Neilson) how much easier life would be if he’d embrace technology and use his new smartphone.
EastEnders
Christmas Day is Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) last day in Walford but is it just him or will viewers see the back of some other residents?
Elsewhere, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) has a plan to create Christmas magic for Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and the kids by dressing as Santa and abseiling from the roof of the Mitchell house but it doesn’t go to plan.
Also, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) organises an outdoor Christmas miracle and asks for Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) hand in marriage but will she say yes?
Emmerdale
Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) lies to his friends that Doctor Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson)is his dad, leaving David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) heartbroken.
On Christmas Day, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) receives a prison visit from his estranged brother Caleb Milligan (WIll Ash).
Meanwhile, stress levels rise for Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brint) as he accidentally gives Vinny Dingle’s (Bradhey Johnson) dog an overdose of sedative.
Hollyoaks
Olivia Bradshaw (Emily Burnett) sleeps with Hunter McQueen (Theo Graham) on the eve of her wedding day to his twin brother Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson Dwyer).
Also, a desperate Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) resorts to extreme measures to protect Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox) even if it means sacrificing her newfound romance with Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood).
At the Maaliks’, Imran Maalik (Ijaz Rana) struggles with his impending admission to the eating disorder clinic so Yazz Cunningham (Haiesha Mistry) and Shaq Qureshi (Omar Malik) come up with an exciting way to lift his spirits.
