The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will officially be held in Liverpool.
Earlier this year, it was revealed the international music competition would be hosted in the UK amid last year’s winning country Ukraine being deemed too high risk due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The UK placed second in the 2022 contest with Sam Ryder’s Space Man.

Eurovision 2022 was held in Turin, Italy following Italian band Måneskin storming to victory with their song Zitti E Buoni in 2021.
Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra won the 2022 contest with their track Stefania but the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) ruled that runner-up the UK should host in Ukraine’s place.
Reacting to the news on Twitter, fans shared their delighted reactions.
One fan wrote: “So glad Liverpool got the Eurovision. It makes perfect sense given they are known for their vibrant music scene. I mean, they produced The Beatles, for crying out loud!”
Another commented: “Well done to Liverpool great news!!”
