GMB's Kate Garraway rushed to hospital as family hit by 'another crisis'

Kate Garraway has revealed that she had to rush back to hospital during another family crisis – and it meant she missed out on the Princess of Wales’ Christmas carol service.

The Good Morning Britain presenter has already been in and out of hospital over the last couple of years during her husband Derek Draper’s long battle with Covid-19.

Derek was left fighting for his life in hospital after contracting Covid early in the pandemic and he’s still suffering from serious health issues to this day.

Kate, 55, has been helping care for Derek during his recovery and updating fans on his condition – in October she told fans he’d been rushed back to hospital with sepsis.

But her latest hospital dash meant she was unable to attend the Princess of Wales’ carol service alongside her 87-year-old dad.

She told GMB viewers on Friday (December 23): “I was lucky enough to have an invite to [the carol service]. I got one last year and it’s one of the most amazing things ever.

“It’s just such a lovely atmosphere, and I was going to take my dad, who had been looking forward to it for so long, but unfortunately we ended up in the hospital with another crisis.”

Kate didn’t clarify what the emergency was or whether it involved Derek, her dad or somebody else.

The highly-anticipated carol service took place on December 15 with the likes of Prince William, Princess Kate, and other royals attending.

Kate was teased by co-host Ben Shephard on Friday’s show when she repeated a Christmas announcement made by showbiz presenter Richard Arnold.

Kate reminded viewers: “And we will be here as well, won’t we? On Christmas Day!”

Tipping Point host Ben swiped: “Yep, as Richard just said.”

Kate hit back: “Oh I know! I was just re-emphasising, just to make sure that people turn up!”
