Kate Garraway enjoys fun day with kids at Winter Wonderland amid Derek heartache

Kate Garraway embraced the holiday spirit with her family as she enjoyed a fun-filled day out with her kids at Winter Wonderland.

The 54-year-old Good Morning Britain star was snapped riding the carousel with her daughter Darcey and son Billy as the trio bundled up for some festive fun at the holiday carnival in Hyde Park.

Stylish Kate braved the cold in a bright blue polo neck with a matching oversized coat and completed the look with a warm black hat.

The star was all smiles as she waved her arms around on the merry-go-round and exchanged laughs with her kids as they attempted to win a giant teddy bear.

Kate’s husband Derek Draper was noticeably absent from the family day following Kate’s revelation that she fears for his health after a health ‘scare’ during their Christmas celebrations last month.

Taking to Instagram, the presenter explained the ordeal alongside a sweet snap of her partner and their two children.

She said: “So the last 24 hours has been bumpy – a scare that meant Derek might have had to go back into hospital (thankfully sorted by a visit from nurse/carer), he has also had one of his ultra fatigue days so has been too weak to do much other than sleep.”

Despite the scare it appears the happy family enjoyed a cosy night in as she shared a sweet snap enjoying some family time at home.

“Now snuggled up around Dad’s bed watching #nativity everything feels suddenly perfect Feel so grateful to have the chance to be together,” she added.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star was instantly flooded with support from friends and fans over her upload.

GMB co-star Ranvir Singh replied: “I hope you sat down immediately after taking this photo and let those wings rest. You are their guardian Angel … and you have superhuman powers of endurance.”

Derek was initially diagnosed with Covid at the end of March, 2020, and was taken into intensive care soon after.

He was later found to be free of coronavirus, but it had wreaked havoc with the rest of his body, sparking a series of health issues.

Kate previously lifted the lid on their Christmas plans on GMB, telling viewers: “Last Christmas Eve, we did have a lot of promise and a lot of hope. But Derek was in hospital. We had no idea whether he was going to live or die, praying that it was going in the right direction.’

“And this year, of course, he’s home so we are spending Christmas together, and that is the biggest gift.”
