Love Island fans convinced Ekin-Su bought Insta followers as they find 'hard evidence'

Love Island fans are sure they’ve spotted ‘evidence’ that new bombshell Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has “bought” most of her Instagram followers.

The star, who was announced as a new bombshell last night (June 7), currently boasts 353,000 followers on Instagram, while she follows just 316 people.

She has posted 126 times to the platform.

And eagle-eyed Reddit users turned to social media statistics platform SocialBlade to do some investigating, taking to the platform to share their findings.

One user posted: “Can say with almost certainty that Ekin-Su has bought the majority of her followers?

“Most tangible proof I have is from looking [through] her SocialBlade statistics, which show a handful of weeklong periods over the past 9 months where she would gain 50k (the most being over 200k within a week – and her one post from that week had just 30 comments???) and then every other week being basically no gain.

“And there were weeks where she lost 50k at a time. Looking at her engagement, she has only about 1,200 likes on her cast reveal announcement (the one on her page, not the Love Island official one) despite having 350k followers.

“For reference, last year Shannon [Singh]’s cast reveal announcement on her IG had 30k likes (and she had less than 200k before the show I believe). So yeah, the girl is posing as a bigger influencer than she is clearly. My guess is she would have around 30k real followers.”

Another user had done some investigating of their own, as they promptly replied: “I saw that on IslanderData too! Such a huge amount. Surprising they still do it in such huge amounts when it’s easy these days to find out if followers are bought.”

As another echoed: “The comments are a big tell. Someone with that many followers shouldn’t be getting 30 comments on a post.”

“There is something wrong with it when you are getting sponsorships and brand deals from companies based on your follow count,” someone else said.

However, others were quick to stick up for Ekin-Su, suggesting the Turkish actress might have gained followers from her various TV shows who are just no longer active.

One argued: “Nah she was on a famous Turkish TV series called Kuzey Yildizi. Her huge following makes sense.”

As someone else said: “Nothing wrong with that. Some people like spending their money on clothes, some on going to concerts or holidays. Others like to spend it on making people follow them on social media.”

Love Island airs weekdays at 9pm on ITV2.
