ITV’s hit dating show Love Island has become embroiled in yet another race row after fans were left annoyed over Davide Saclimenti side-lining two of the girls.
During Tuesday night’s episode (June 7), viewers took to Twitter in their droves after bombshell Davide appeared to avoid going to chat with Amber Beckford and Indiyah Polack, who are the only two women of colour in the villa.
Italian stallion Davide had only 24 hours to chose a girl he wanted to partner up with after he the island of love unexpectedly the night before.
The following day, the 27 year old spoke to the girls individually as he tried to establish who he wanted to share a bed with that night.
However, fans quickly noticed that he failed to pull either Indiyah, 22, or Amber, 24, over for a chat to discuss a potential pairing with them.
Seeing the evident flaw, Love Island spectators headed straight to Twitter, with some threatening to contact TV regulator Ofcom over the move.
One viewer fumed: “If I don’t see Davide pull Indiyah or Amber for a chat this episode I’m reporting to OFCOM.”
Another shared: “It’s basic manners to talk to every girl, he gotta go home.”
A third added: “Davide avoiding all the black women like his life depends on it,” while a fourth said: “The fact Davide didn’t even greet Indiyah and Amber is bugging me.”
Meanwhile a fifth upset viewer said: : “Davide spoke to all the girls in the villa, except the black girl and the mixed girl. It’s giving me racist.”
But Davide’s actions wasn’t the only thing that caused concerns amongst viewers.
During the launch episode, host Laura Whitmore revealed that the public decided which couples would be placed together for the very first time in the show’s history.
Islanders Indiyah and Ikenna Ekwonna, 23, were placed together by the general public, as well as Amber and Dami Hope, 26.
But the remaining six contestants who were white were coupled up.
However, viewers at home called this aspect out too claiming the show had “segregated” the couples.
Jumping on Twitter, one person wrote: “So they’ve essentially segregated the couples as two black couples and three white couples…is this what I’m getting?”
While another tweeted: “Who came up with this idea of people voting couples together? We literally asked to put (in) black men that like black girls, not force black couples together.”
