Love Island winner Amber Gill slates 'pathetic' #BeKind movement amid 'bullying' claims

Love Island winner Amber Gill has spoken out against the #BeKind movement, calling it the “most pathetic agenda born of this age” as she slammed Luca Bish on social media.

Over the past week, the Brighton fishmonger has come under fire after he was accused of “bullying” fellow Islanders following the explosive fallout of the highly-anticipated Movie Night Challenge.

But it wasn’t just viewers who hit out at the star online, as the 24-year-old reality star took to her Twitter account to share her running commentary of the explosive argument online.

Yet not all of her opinions on the hugely popular ITV2 reality show have gone down smoothly with her adoring followers, as the brunette beauty was called out for going against the #BeKind movement with her comments.

Taking to Twitter, the 2019 winner warned Luca’s sister – who is currently running his social media accounts while he is in the villa – to block her so she didn’t see her blistering comments.

She wrote: “I’m going to watch Love Island tonight and Luca’s sister should block it, she doesn’t want to know what I think,” which she signed off with three kisses.

The starlet then soon became involved in a Twitter thread with one of her followers who called her out for her posts online.

Her followers argued: “I don’t think you can talk about Luca. You’re a bully yourself. SMH you hypocrite. Don’t block me and actually try answering.”

She replied with: “Absolutely and people said what they wanted to say about that?? If people want to call me a bully for being honest so be it! Xxx.”

Another user suggested: “Then don’t say anything bad about Luca when all he’s being honest. Doesn’t it feel s**t coming out seeing people saying bad stuff about you?”

Amber clapped back with: “No?? People will say bad s**t regardless which [is] what I had to learn x.”

They pointed out: “Yeah but do you think you as an influencer now is setting a good example of the #BeKind.”

It was at this point that she revealed that she shared her views about the campaign, adding that she is strongly against the #BeKind movement.

She revealed: “I really do not care to set an example of be kind as I think it is the most pathetic agenda born of this age.”

The #BeKind movement was started by former Love Island host Caroline Flack

The movement first came about following the death of former ITV host Caroline Flack who tragically took her own life back in 2020.

In one of her final Instagram posts, the X Factor presenter advised her 2.3million followers: “In a world where you can be anything, be kind,” which received a flood of support from users online in an attempt to stamp out trolling online.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Star, the author expanded on her thoughts about critical commentary throughout the show, as she explained how she doesn’t view it as “trolling”.

She admitted: “I think there’s this thing that commentaries are what affects people’s mental health.

“And I have to say from my perspective going on the show – I knew there was gonna be people with opinions.

“What really gets to you is when people are really pulling out your looks and your character and stuff.

“Me saying that someone was rude just with one sentence is like, I would say that to their face. You can say someone is rude and not hate their absolute guts and want them to fail.”

She also slammed Paige Thorne online

Amber went on: “And so I get mixed reviews but I tend to just keep it light hearted. I had some opinions on Paige about how things went on that I didn’t like and people didn’t like it.

“But I’m sure there were things on there that I did when I went on there that people didn’t really like and they’re more than entitled to say that. I don’t necessarily think that’s trolling.”

It comes as Amber celebrates the launch of her romance book Until I Met You – which hit the shelves on July 7 – that follows the life of a young adult finding her way thought life as a singleton at a wedding full of couples.
