Paul Burrell took to Lorraine to share his thoughts on the first episode of Harry and Meghan’s explosive Netflix docuseries.
Talking to Lorraine Kelly on the ITV talk show, Paul explained that Meghan Markle wanted to be “the star” of the royal family, but could only be a “supporting actress”
“Meghan could never be a star of this show [the royal family], she could only be a supporting actress so by leaving, she can be the star”, he said.
Having watched the first episode of the divisive tell-all from the former royals, Paul went on to slam the couple’s “winging for six hours” across the docuseries.
“They’re going to whinge for six hours, living in their Beverly Hills mansion with all that money”, he said mockingly.
Paul also claimed that had the couple stayed in the royal family, the pair could’ve been “phenomenal”, but instead “they chose the money”.
“This couple could’ve had it all, they would have been at the heart of the royal family, they would have been phenomenal for the royal family, instead they chose commercial route, they chose the money”, he revealed.
Sharing his insight after years of working alongside Harry’s mother Princess Diana, Paul shared a personal view of the situation, and what he thinks Diana would think of it.
“I love Harry I’ve always defended him, I met him when he was in his mother tummy, I’m part of their lives”, he started. “But I don’t like this, it’s very sad”.
“If she was alive this wouldn’t have happened, she would remind Harry of his position and she would say to him, ‘You were born into this family'”, Paul claimed when asked about Harry leaving the firm.
“Diana told him ‘The price you pay for the privileged life is public service’, and Harry chose to turn his back instead”, he said, disappointed.
Ending his message, Paul told Lorraine viewers to be cautious when watching the show and to be careful not to be “fooled”.
“Don’t be fooled,” he warned. “Look beyond it, this is carefully edited and produced by them”.
