Philip Schofield 'gutted' as Holly Willougby forced to miss Dancing On Ice semi-final

Phillip Schofield passed on his well wishes to his absent co-star Holly Willoughby after she tested positive for Covid-19 hours before the semi-finals of Dancing on Ice.

On Sunday (March 13), viewers were shocked to see the 59-year-old opening the popular ITV talent show on his own after the blonde bombshell was forced to pull out of the nail-biting episode.

As he opened the show, he addressed his solo role on the show before passing on his best wishes to his unwell side kick.

And the silver fox couldn’t help but pass on his sympathies to the mum-of-three as he confessed how he found it “so weird” to be watching the show from the comfort of his own home when he contracted the virus last month.

He said: “As you can see holly isn’t here tonight. We found out just a few hours ago that she’s tested positive for Covid.

“I know what it’s like to watch this show from home, it is really weird. Holly, get well soon. Lots of love.”

He also took to Instagram to pass on his well wishes just hours after the news began to circulate online as she shared a sweet selfie with his ITV duo on his Instagram stories.

He captioned the snap: “Gutted that my mate won’t be with me on @dancingonice tonight [sad face emoji]. Get well soon darlin [love heart emoji].”

The news was confirmed on the official ITV programme’s Twitter page which gave no mention of a replacement host for the series online.

They wrote: “Unfortunately, Holly Willoughby is unable to host tonight’s show after testing positive for Covid-19.

“Tonight’s #DancingOnIce Semi-Final will be hosted by Phillip Schofield and we look forward to Holly returning for our Live Final [heart emoji] @hollywilloughby @schofe.”

When Phillip fell ill with the global virus, magician and comic Stephen Mulhern stepped in for the dad-of-two as he reunited with Holly for the first time in 18 years back when the pair first started their TV careers presenting children’s television.
