Rachel Stevens' Dancing on Ice future confirmed after star suffers horror skating injury

Dancing on Ice fans have shared their concerns after the news broke that Rachel Stevens is unable to take part on the second week of the popular skating competition.

On Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for the ITV show star revealed she wouldn’t be appearing on the show due to a horror injury after she fell on her wrist during training practice.

They said: “Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday’s show.”

Since then, viewers have swarmed to social media to pass on their get well soon messages to the 43-year-old online.

But as the launch night draws ever closer, rumours have been swirling around the blonde bombshell and her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield as to whether or not the pair will continue in the competition.

Now, in an exclusive interview with the Daily Star and other publications, the noughties singer has confirmed she will be joining the show for the third week.

When asked about how she sustained her injury, Rachel explained how the fall happened a couple of weeks before Christmas from “trying to push myself” too far too early on.

She said: “It was when I was with my coach – this was a couple of weeks before Christmas – and yeah, I mean I fell quite a few times, as you do when you’re trying to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

“And yeah, I just fell and it hurt. Obviously, I didn’t know what I’d done, but after that I had some incredible support.

“I went and got an x-ray done and I’ve had amazing medical advice from the team and this is healing really, really well.

“I’m just so grateful to still be able to be in it and be a part of it and we’re working super, super hard off the ice so that fingers crossed I can get on really, really soon.”

The mum-of-two has been practising her routine off the ice while her wrist recovers

Now, the star has thanked her loyal legion of fans online as she shared a black-and-white picture of the pair practicing their routine in preparation for next week’s routine.

She penned: “Thank you so much for all your lovely messages of support today.

“A huge thank you to @sharonmorrisonuk and all the team @dancingonice for taking such good care of me.

“I’m so lucky to have such a great partner and we’re so excited to share our performance with you week 3! Bring it on!”

It comes after the skating show was thrown into chaos after fellow contestant and Happy Monday’s star Bez – whose real name is Mark Berry – tested positive for Covid-19 following his hilarious opening routine last Sunday.
