Ray Donovan actress Mary Mara, 61, drowned while swimming, it has been reported.
Mara, who appeared in several other TV shows, including Law and Order, apparently drowned while swimming on Sunday (June 26) in the St. Lawrence River off Cape Vincent in New York.
She is best known for her main role as Inspector Bryn Carson on Nash Bridges and primetime dramas ER and Law & Order, as well as playing Mrs. Sullivan on Ray Donovan in 2013.

Mara was visiting her sister, said Sargeant Jack Keller, a spokesperson for the State Police.
The preliminary investigation showed no signs of foul play and her body was taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The actress was famous for playing Loretta Sweet on ER, Jill in Lost, Nance in Shameless, and also appeared in Hope & Gloria, NYPD Blue, and The Hard Way with Michael J. Fox.
Mara graduated from Corcoran High School in Syracuse and attended Yale University.
According to IMDB, throughout her 30-year career, Mara appeared in over 20 movies and 40 television shows.

Mara also appeared on stage acting in plays such as Kindertransport, Dream of a Common Language, and Mad Forest for the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York.
She also appeared in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of Twelfth Night.
Mara, a native of Syracuse, New York, split her time between homes in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The actress established her craft at the theatre company HART (Haight Ashbury Repertory Theatre), where she honed her acting skills.
She later transferred to the Yale School of Drama, from which she graduated with a master’s degree in fine arts.
