Ricky Gervais' brutal Golden Globes jokes unveiled – cosmetics swipe to James Corden dig

Ricky Gervais gave viewers of the 2020 Golden Globes a much-need distraction following his scathing rant at the 77th annual ceremony.

This year’s awards will see a slight return to normality as 2021’s show consisted of celebs receiving their awards from home due to Covid restrictions.

However, nominees will still have to show proof of vaccination and booster, social distancing and mask wearing will be in place.

There is also no red carpet this year.

Blasting some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, former host Ricky didn’t hold back as he fired countless quips over to the A-listers.

The unapologetic jokester, who was hosting for his fifth and final time, proudly promised to “have a laugh at your expense,” before shamelessly mocking celebrities.

He left the likes of Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio blushing following his quips, so to celebrate the Golden Globes – and Ricky – Daily Star has looked into his most savage swipes.

Genital humour

Ricky set the tone for his brutal hosting style during his debut monologue back in 2010 when he reeled off a crude joke about genitals and discussed the size of his penis.

He also took the opportunity to mock all the plastic surgery the celebrities have endured over the years.

“Looking at all the wonderful faces here today reminds me of the great work that’s been done this year — by cosmetic surgeons,” Gervais joked.

“I’ve had some work done, too. I’ve had a penis reduction. Just got the one now. And it is very tiny. But then so are my hands, so when I’m holding it it looks pretty big.”

Angelina Jolie adoption gag

The stunning actress is known for adopting children from third world countries – but despite the star’s honourable and compassionate humanitarian work, she was not free from Ricky’s wrath when he poked fun at her right to her face during his opening monologue.

“Actors aren’t just loved here in Hollywood, they are loved the world over. You could be in the third world and get a glimpse of a Hollywood star and it could make you feel a little bit better,” Gervais said.

“You could be a little Asian child with no possessions and no money. But you could see a picture of Angelina Jolie and you’d think, ‘Mommy!'”

‘Lack of diversity’

There has often been controversy on the lack of racial and ethnic diversity of the nominees at the Golden Globes, and the comedian took the opportunity to dub the Hollywood Foreign Press racist.

He quipped: “Many talented people of colour were snubbed in major categories. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about that because the Hollywood Foreign Press are all very, very racist..”

As jaws dropped across the auditorium, undeterred, he continued: “We were going to do an In Memoriam tonight but when I saw the list, it wasn’t diverse enough. It was mostly white people and I thought ‘Nah, not on my watch’.”

Ripping James Corden in Cats

James Corden’s highly anticipated movie Cats was a catastrophic flop at the box office and Ricky wasted no time in ripping the star’s failure on national television.

“The world got to see James Corden as a fat p***y. He was also in the movie Cats. But no one saw that. and the reviews? Shocking. I saw one that said this is the worst thing to happen to cats since dogs.”

He also slammed Dame Judy Dench for defending the film, claiming she likes to lick her own genitals.

“Dame Judi Dench defended the film, saying it was the role she was born to play because she… [laughs] I can’t do this next joke. Because she loves nothing better than plunking her a** down on the carpet, lifting her legs and licking her own m***e. She’s old school.”

‘Wokeness’

Ricky blasted the A-List crowd, including Robert De Niro & Martin Scorsese saying: “You know nothing about the real world.”

Given Hollywood’s separation from the problems faced by most regular folk, Ricky offered a stern warning, telling the A-List crowd: “You know nothing about the real world.”

He blasted: “The companies you work for, unbelievable. Apple, Amazon, Disney. If ISIS starting a streaming service, you’d call your agent, wouldn’t you? So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use your platform to make a political speech.

“You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god and f**k off.”

Cringeworthy digs

Ricky made a hilarious dig at Leonardo DiCaprio and the slew of very young women he has dated, as he said: “The Irishman was amazing … It wasn’t the only epic movie. Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood was nearly three hours long.

“Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end, his date was too old for him. Even Prince Andrew’s like, ‘Come on, mate, you’re nearly 50, son’.”

He also blasted the awards show itself, saying that his own show After Life, which focuses on a cancer storyline, was more fun than watching the Golden Globes.

He said: “You could binge-watch the entire first season of After Life instead of watching this show. That’s a show about a man who wants to kill himself because his wife dies of cancer, and it’s still more fun than this. Spoiler alert, Season 2 is on the way, so in the end, he obviously didn’t kill himself. Just like Jeffrey Epstein. Shut up. I know he’s your friend, but I don’t care.”
