Sheridan Smith, 40, has been robbed of her jewellery following a raid on her trailer while she was onsite filming for a sitcom.
The actress is said to have lost necklaces and bracelets as part of the raid and is “very hurt” about the situation.
It is thought that the raid has been conducted by a gang of thieves nicknaming themselves the Movie Takers, carrying out raids on other films and TV projects in recent weeks and months.
The incident was reported to the police on Thursday night after thieves emptied Sheridan’s trailer of valuables while she filmed on the set of Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything.
A source told The Sun : “This was a very upsetting incident and everyone involved is shocked – but Sheridan is understandably very hurt.”
The source explained that it was Sheridan who returned to her trailer to find that the place had been ransacked.
They added that the multiple incidents in recent weeks is “very unusual” because TV staff regularly recognise one another, adding to the publication: “It could be that the same people are targeting sets, knowing there are high-value items.”
A Met Police spokesperson said: The offence happened at about 11.50pm on May 5.
“Items of jewellery were stolen from trailers in Surbiton,” they added.
“There have been no arrests, inquiries continue.”
Sheridan has been working on the Sky TV show in recent weeks after landing the lead role as Rosie.
The series is expected to be a two season, 10 episode stint expected to air between 2022 and 2023, following Rosie making the decision to give up everything and focus on a happier and healthier path in life.
The production of the show is ongoing.
Sheridan has been focusing on being back on screens and in the spotlight after a long career which has seen her appear in Gavin and Stacey and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
One of her most recent projects which will be released imminently is The Railway Children Return, set to hit cinemas on July 15.
Sheridan has been incredibly busy behind the camera, with her stint as Rosie coming just months behind The Railway Children later this year.
