The Chase fans moved as Mark Labbett bends rules in sweet move for partially blind player

Fans of The Chase were certainly impressed and moved by chaser Mark Labbett after some noticed that he closed his eyes when faced with a contestant who had a visual impairment.

Chaser Mark, who is also well known to viewers as The Beast, took it upon himself to ensure a player named Annah had an equal playing field by deciding to not look at the questions on the screen.

Seeing Mark’s thoughtful gesture, several fans took to Twitter to share their views.

One spectator wrote: “@MarkLabbett was keeping his eyes closed for Annah’s questions – making it a level playing field with consummate respect and integrity shown by The Beast.”

Another fan wrote: “@MarkLabbett not looking at the questions against Annah. Touch of class.”

Meanwhile, a third astonished viewer penned: “The beat is closing his eyes.”

Annah was certainly a brilliant quizzer as she managed to answer the majority of her questions correctly in the cash builder round and added £7,000 to the overall cash fund.

Seeing how quickly and smoothly she played her game, fans of the show jumped back on Twitter to sing her praises.

One viewer wrote: “Annah is easily their strongest player so far.”

Another chimed: “How Annah just cruised through that I will never know. Unbelievable.”

“Well done for getting the Rig Vedas question right, Annah – not many people know much about Hinduism,” another impressed viewer added.

But viewers were in luck, as Annah and the two other members of her team, Rachel and Dave did manage to beat The Beast in the final.

After answering 19 questions correctly between them, The Beast was unable to overcome the time which was certainly not on his side.

With £15,000 in the kitty, fans were delighted for the players who performed brilliantly together as a team.

“A well-deserved win and many Congratulations team Xxxxx,” one social media user tweeted.

While another agreed and echoed: “Love it when the team wins and nobody goes minus! And Annah got the money she NEEDED!”

The Chase airs weekday at 5pm on ITV.
