The Chase's Bradley Walsh takes swipe at 'delusional' celebrity contestant on ITV show

The Chase host Bradley Walsh made a cheeky dig at Rachel Johnson during in a celebrity special of the ITV show.

He is known for his cheeky jibes at his guests and things were no different when Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s sister Rachel Johnson took to the stand to try her luck.

The repeated episode of the quiz show also saw author Rachel, journalist Giles Coren, TV presenter Chris Packham and comedian Josie Long battle the chaser.

Giles kicked off the quiz and bagged a huge £40,000 for the prize pot, before Rachel stepped up second to try and grab more cash for the team.

Playing it safe and scoring a respectable £4,000, she returned to the panel for the final chase – but not before Bradley could take a swipe at her performance.

In her initial questions, before going head-to-head with Paul Sinha, Rachel was unable to name champagne brand Veuve Clicquot.

“The shocking inditement is tonight of course, you not knowing Veuve Clicquot, which is my favourite champagne,” Bradley joked.

“I felt like I got more right, but I’m always very over optimistic which is sad, isn’t it?” she jibed back about her comparatively small prize fund.

Bradley joked: “No, no it’s okay – delusional, but okay.”

He went on to ask her if she was “ready” to face the Chaser, to which a baffled Rachel replied: “I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s happening.”

“Good, time to face the Chaser,” the presenter joked.

Rachel wasn’t caught by The Sinnerman and ended up returning to the team to join them in the final chase.

Chris was knocked out after taking a risk to play for £50,000, falling at the final hurdle and going home.

Meanwhile, Josie returned to the panel with a low offer of £1,000.

The total was taken to £45,000 – which the three celebrities would split between their chosen charities.

The trio answered 17 questions correctly, but lost the huge winning sum as even their multiple push backs weren’t enough to slow down the chaser.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
