80s icon and Karate Kid star Elisabeth Shue, 59, unrecognisable decades later

80s icon Elisabeth Shue looks totally unrecognisable decades later.

The actress, who shot to fame in The Karate Kid alongside Ralph Macchio in 1984, took an extended break from Hollywood to raise her three children – Miles, Stella and Agnes.

But before that, Elisabeth gained further acclaim in films like Cocktail, alongside Tom Cruise, and Back to the Future.

Now aged 59, the blonde bombshell looks totally different from her days in those classic 80s flicks.

In recent snaps, The Boys star can be seen with her blonde tresses arranged into shoulder-length curls, and regularly wears glasses during her sporadic public appearances.

The star still looks sensational and regularly shows off her lithe frame at fan events and TV premieres.

In one snap, the star posed alongside her daughters for a candid family post, looking iconic as ever in a black tank top and tortoiseshell specs with her blonde tresses falling loose to frame her face.

Fans instantly went mad for the photo, with plenty begging the star: “Marry me!”

Someone else echoed: “You don’t age!” as another fan said she still has: “The same beautiful smile…”

“So beautiful, you never age!” a fourth agreed.

Elisabeth settled down with her hubby Davis Guggenheim in 1994, and Davis was the one who encouraged his wife to head back to Harvard after she dropped out to concentrate on acting.

In 2021, the actress confessed she used to “beat herself up” over what other people thought of her.

She said: “I think that was pretty detrimental to my soul.”

Speaking on the ID10T with Chris Hardwick podcast, Elisabeth elaborated: “I would tell [my younger self] that it’s OK to just be who you are.

“To be somebody who’s not caring about the business, to be somebody who doesn’t know how to wear dresses properly and is clueless about all the things that I was clueless about.”

The actress said: “I think I beat myself up so much when I was younger because I expected so much out of myself and was constantly comparing myself and wondering what everyone thought of me.”
